From Mansfield Chad... [/b] By Catherine Allen
TALENTED singer Carly Hopkinson says she is nervous and excited after making it to the finals of Classic FM's competition to find a fifth member of all-girl group All Angels.
Carly, who attended Rodney School in Kirklington, will join four other girls from around the country at the auditions on Thursday and the winner will be announced on Monday.
The winner will then appear with the group at a concert in London on 28th November and then go on to record a version of Ave Verum Corpus.
The budding diva, who is currently studying at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, was entered into the competition by her former singing tutor Elizabeth Heatherington.
"We record all of our shows and my teacher saw the competition and sent off the DVD," said Carly, who last year won the Mansfield Junior Showtime competition organised by the town's Rotary Club.
Carly (18), who also studied at the Arts Educational School at Tring in Hertfordshire, is a relative new-comer to the opera world but says she is already enjoying the new challenge.
She says: "It is only in the last couple of years that I have looked at opera and it has really helped take my voice to the next level.
"It can train you to do anything in the theatre."
And speaking about the competition, she added: "I am nervous because it is the biggest opportunity I have had so far, but I am also excited."[/quote] Richard

Hi Richard, thanks for posting these articles. I wonder if there will be articles on all the girls eventually. Best of luck to all of them!

All Angels will be really pleased that they have reached the top 10 when the album has not been released yet. I suspect that the researcher is a little confused with the first album!

Your right Drew, I missed that, I didn't read the whole article, the google alert popped up just as I was about to log off.
