Hello everybody! I've found a short report on the BBC's website, with some interesting photographs:- www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/youngchorister/ William Dutton (11) from St Mark's Church, Harrogate and Emma Whiteley (15) from Harrogate Ladies College have been named Radio 2's Young Choristers of the Year 2006. Eight finalists (four boys and four girls) were successful in reaching the competition final from hundreds of entries, and performed in front of a panel of celebrity judges at Westminster Abbey in London. This year's judges included Hayley Westenra, David Grant of BBC One's Fame Academy, and Director General of the RSCM, Professor John Harper. There was also a performance from All Angels, featuring Laura Wright - Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year 2005. Each of the winners received a trophy and a prize of £500. In addition, their choirs received a BBC Chorister's award of £1000. The winners also get the chance to appear on Radio 2's Good Morning Sunday and Sunday Half Hour, Radio 4's Daily Service, plus a TV appearance on BBC One's Songs Of Praise and Heaven & Earth.
There are six photographs in the BBC's gallery, and I'm posting them all here:- The eight finalists with the judges Radio 2 Young Choristers of the Year - William Dutton and Emma Whiteley Choirboy of the Year - William Dutton Choirgirl of the Year - Emma Whiteley All Angels, featuring Laura Wright (Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year 2005) William Dutton and Emma Whiteley with Howard Goodall Richard
