Just popped into Tesco downloads to find Amazing Grace and find that the Tesco download album chart has
No 18 All Angels No 46 Angelis
As Amazing Grace is from the alternative EU album, the downloads become rather complicated with an additional version of each track. Thus we may find all chart entries diluted. Who would want to download the UK album now that the EU album has the bonus track?
Dave, do they combine these two for all sales?

The album sales should all be combined for the charts (although album downloads will only be a small percentage of the total... under 5% probably). Individual track downloads (if not ordering the full album) probably won't count towards the album charts position. They won't be combined for charts of the online download merchants though, they will probably be shown separately. At the moment, in the iTunes Vocal section, All Angels (original) album is charting at no. 1 and the "EU" or "e" version is charting at no. 16. Katherine Jenkins is no. 2. In the main iTunes album chart, All Angels are no. 8 and Katherine no. 41 (Angelis no. 26) but the split album download sales could pull All Angels back at iTunes over the next few days. Cheers, Dave

Listening to Classic FM in the car this afternoon, I noticed an advert for their three disc album which featured "Songbird" as background. :applaud: :applaud:

All Angels has entered the UK pop chart at no. 9 which is an excellent result... although not quite as high as I'd hoped. Many shops seem to have been caught out by the demand as several times this week, I have been in Supermarkets who had sold out of All Angels - and only All Angels. That would have hit their chart position - so would stupid stores like Woolworths who placed it as low as no. 19 and would have sold out very fast. So it's congratulations to All Angels who entered the top 10 against all the odds! Katherine Jenkins dropped one place to no. 6 and Angelis dropped three places to no. 5. This means that All Angels entered the Classical Artist chart at no. 2 - with only Katherine ahead. There is a chance that All Angels may be the fastest selling debut album in UK classical chart history - a record held by Hayley until last year and by The Choirboys since then. But we will have to wait until, probably, tomorrow to find out. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Thank you for the latest chart news. Why did they not appear on Saturday's Classic FM Top 30 (or are they a week behind)?

Hayley held the record in 2003, then the Choirboys last year, and now All Angels. As all three are with Bedlam Management, I think we should congratulate Steve Abbott and all his team past and present. Now is it question time for Dave again! Dave, what is the record for the fastest debut classical album to reach gold... and platinum? Roger

Hi Roger, Yes indeed, congratulations to All Angels, Steve Abbott and his team at Bedlam Management, and UCJ the record label too! I'll take a stab at the Awards information... it's probably (for a debut classical album) jointly held for a Gold disc by Hayley and The Choirboys, both of whom were awarded Gold on the Friday of week 1. It looks like the previous debut record holder Charlotte Church got her first Gold in week 2. Hayley went Platinum with Pure in week 8. I don't think The Choirboys ever quite managed a Platinum. But Charlotte Church went Platinum in week 3 - due to the approach of Christmas - so she probably holds the classical debut record for going Platinum. Cheers, Dave
