A SUFFOLK singing sensation has taken time off from the pop music world to play one of the main roles in her school's Christmas production.
Laura Wright, 16, from Framlingham, is a member of the all-girl classical singing group All Angels.
However, in between her whirlwind life of live performances and school work she found time to rehearse with fellow students at Framlingham College for the musical Les Miserables.
The EADT is trying to help catapult the All Angels new charity single, Angels, to the top of the charts this Christmas to benefit the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Laura played Cosette in Les Miserables, staged in front of four capacity audiences last week.
Thirty-five students were in the school's highly acclaimed production and others made up the technical crew.
Laura, a day pupil in the school's sixth form, said she had really enjoyed the performances which had all gone well.
“It was a bit difficult juggling everything else in my life but it was a fantastic show to be in,” she said.
Both Laura and All Angels agent Steve Abbott paid tribute to the school's head, Gwen Randall, and other staff for their support and co-operation.
“Mrs Randall has been tremendously supportive,” said Mr Abbott.
He revealed that 34,000 copies of the group's debut album, called All Angels, had already been sold this week.
“It is very hard to know who the normal buyer is. The group captures something which resonates with the public in general - I think it is a real mix of people across the musical taste,” he said.
Competition to be top of the pop charts this Christmas is already fierce with X-Factor winner the current favourite but All Angels being listed at 7-1.
Laura said: “I don't really mind where we get to. Just having the opportunity to be in the race is wicked.”
Her group's new single, Angels, a cover of the Robbie Williams hit, is released on Monday on the Universal Classics and Jazz label.
