According to the Shropshire Star, All Angels will be appearing on Blue Peter on 19th December.

They were due to appear at a Christmas Carol event in Shrewsbury but have pulled out to appear on the show, which I believe is this years Christmas special.

Classical singing sensations All Angels have pulled out of Shrewsbury’s Carols in the Square to appear on Blue Peter instead.The group - featuring Shrewsbury girl Melanie Nakhla - was due to perform at the event in the town centre on December 19, following a stunning performance last year.

But All Angels have pulled their appearance at the showpiece carol concert to travel to London, where they will appear on the long-running children’s television show.

The organisers of Carols in the Square said, however, that they were hoping for another bumper year and “a night to remember” after more than 8,000 people packed into the centre of the town for last year’s event.

Adam Burgan, programme and marketing manager at the Music Hall, admitted it was disappointing the All Angels had pulled out.

He said: “It is a bit of a shame, but we have still got a big surprise in store for the night itself. It will still be a fantastic evening to get people in the festive spirit.”

People attending this year’s Carols in the Square have been advised to get there early due to the limited amount of space.

The event will start from 5.30pm and will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Shropshire between 6pm and 7pm, presented by Eric Smith.

All Angels recently performed songs from their album Into Paradise at Shrewsbury’s Abbey.

All Angels performed a few weeks ago at Shrewsbury’s Abbey so they probably went to Melanies house then.

It's bad news for the people of Shrewsbury, good news for us! ;D

Blue Peter delight for special young carer

A SELFLESS young carer with big ambitions was given a chance to shine when she appeared on live television.

Katie Deyes, 13, of Buckley, has helped to care for her austistic brother Alex, now aged eight, since he was born.

The Argoed High School pupil was thrilled when she made a surprise appearance on Blue Peter this month.

Katie was put forward to appear on a special Christmas edition of the show on December 19, through a Barnardo's young carer's group which she regularly attends.

Her mum Mandy kept her appearance on the show a surprise until she travelled down to London to be a member of the audience.

Mandy said: "Katie has always helped me to care for Alex, as we are on our own a lot of the time as her dad Russ is in the Merchant Navy.

"Alex is very demanding and although he is eight years old, it is the same as caring for a toddler.

"Katie gives up a lot of her time to play with Alex and she never holds a grudge for it. She adores him, and he loves her to bits.

"Katie was put forward for Blue Peter by the Barnardo's group but I kept it secret from her until the day she appeared on the show.

"She was called up out of the audience and got to interview the group All Angels with the presenter.

"She loved every minute of it. Katie wants a career in television when she is older and already attends a theatre group. She wasn't nervous at all and I was exceptionally proud of her."

Katie attends the young carer's group, based in Hawarden and run by Barnardo's, every month to help her cope with the day to day work involved in caring for her demanding younger brother.

The group organises activities and trips out for children in a similar position to Katie every month, helps them to make new friends and offers a network of support.

Mandy said: "The group is a really good facility. Katie is able to go for day trips out as part of it, which is difficult for us to do because of Alex's demands.

"She has also made some great friends and is able to meet children in a similar position to herself. It helps them to realise that they are not alone."

Alex was officially diagnosed with autism last year and also suffers from low muscle tone.

Mandy added: "Katie spends so much time playing with Alex and it has really helped his development.

"She has taught him to do so much and he always does things exactly as she has shown him. It is more difficult for an adult to play with him than it is for another child. I am so proud of her."
