Has anybody else been watching the program 'Classical Star' on BBC2 on Tuesdays? www.bbc.co.uk/classicalstar/series1/It is a classical contest where promising youngsters are given challenges in a bid to win a recording contract. Two of them are voted off each week by a panel of judges, including Steve Abbott, the All Angels manager. Before I started watching it I was a bit apprehensive, as i don't really watch programs like these for many reasons. But I found it very interesting and informative, especially I think from my point of view as a new fan of classical music. There is also some real talent and huge potential there, rather than people just wanting to be famous, which makes a refreshing change for shows like this. If you haven't seen it you can watch the first three episodes here - www.bbc.co.uk/classicalstar/series1/episodes/Dazza

Hi Dazza, Yes, I have seen the first three episodes and I intend to watch the remainder of the series. For me, it makes a very refreshing change for classical music (other than the Proms) to be given coverage on prime time BBC TV. I keep changing my mind about who I think deserves to win so the eventual result will be very interesting! Incidentally, I believe the episodes in the above link can only be viewed from within the UK. Sorry folks. Roger

Hi Roger,
I keep changing my mind too, at the moment, my money is on Sophie or Tyler.
I am absolutely staggered that Victoria was voted off, her attitude is questionable, though she comes across as a bit of a perfectionist who wants everything right and her way, I believe that she was more focused on her music than any of the other contestants. I think that she has fantastic talent and potential, the speed and enthusiasm in which she can play the violin is exceptional.
I don't agree with the way that the judging is being carried out, it seems that they are, or some of them are considering marketable value before talent which I think is wrong.
Apart from that though, I think that it is a fantastic program which I am really enjoying watching. It will be really interesting to see who the eventual winner is.
