Hi Spike,
I don't watch the show although I had already seen and heard about Andrew Johnston because of the media coverage he has had.
I've just watched the video and thought Scala were excellent, a great performance.

Hi Spike, There is no doubt that Scala have talent and they deserve to do well on Britain's Got Talent where they went down a storm with all three judges. There is definitely a place for a group like this in the market but, unfortunately for Scala, such a group already exist - Bond, who have been producing exactly this kind of music for several years. I am surprised that the judges didn't make that observation. Roger

Bond appear to have been very quiet for the last 3 years so I believe that there must be a lot of people around who have not heard their style of music or performance, thus leaving open the door for Scala. Bond's last album was released in 2004. (You are supposed to call them bond as Bond is in breach of 007's copyright!)

Hi Everyone,
I had never heard of bond but have just checked their website and there are a lot of similarities.
I'm not sure about the other judges but Simon certainly knows what he is doing. It's not something I entirely agree with but IF Scala won (and the same for whoever wins) they would be an initial success anyway simply from the hype of winning Britain's Got Talent.

I saw them on Britains got talent. It was really cool. If they bring out an album or something I might have to get it.

It rather depends on whether you look at it from a classical or pop viewpoint. If bond and Scala were strictly pop performers, then bond would definitely have the market cornered as "the first" glamorous female string quartet. But if you look at it from the classical side, then goodness! There's always room for another string quartet, because most classical quartets actually perform different repertoire than each other, and provide different interpretations. But groups like bond and Scala fall somewhere in between, so it's anybody's guess as to whether or not it will be a competition between them, and if so, who will win! And for the record, I believe there's yet another all-girl string quartet... the Pavao String Quartet? www.pavaoquartet.com

well some of the members of Scala were part of Wild who were a string quartet but they were really edgy with there music style which i think had a massive appeal,
tho simon did try to massively market "Angelis" which were in direct competition to the All Angels girls i believe and as far is i know and from what i see he lost the battle (well done girls and team)
BUT i do think simon cowell with his massive status in music can bring classical crossover to a lot more people than would otherwise be interested in it. which will be great in the long term for future classical and classical crossover acts as with paul potts who attracted a massive fanbase and those fans then looked out other acts in that genre

I do believe they definately fit the classical crossover category and could contribute to its expansion. I hope to hear more from this group, whether they win Britain's Got Talent or not. I loved their style, so I'm going to check out the group Bond (I've never heard of them, but then again, some of the blame could be due to my location ) Meldy

Scala and bond seem cool
I play the viola and am happy to see that there is one in Scala- that gives them major brownie points in my book!
