The latest assignment in my college speech class (due today!) was to present a current news item, its importance, and the chance of it reoccuring. After much fretting and stewing, I decided to use an article from billboard.biz about National Music Week! With supplementary information coming from, of course, this forum. =D
Much to my delight, my speech went beatifully!! Everybody liked it... both teacher and classmates!! Now that's rare...
What was even more unexpected is that when I mentioned I was particulary interested in one of the groups participating, both my teacher and one fellow student had heard of All Angels! Which is very good... but surprising. Generally speaking, Kansas are a very ignorant bunch when it comes to music. =D

Chantelle,
Has the US ever experienced a national (or state) competition like this before?

Well done Chantelle! :applaud: I hope you told your teacher and classmates about this forum, because they would all be very welcome to join! ;D Best Wishes from London, Richard

Thank you Chantelle; you are doing an excellent job of spreading the word which is what our these forums ar all about. Maybe you could arrange for them to hear the clips on the main site? Roger

Hey, thanks all! lol As far as I know, the US has never ever had an "event" like this. Which is a real shame! I wish we did have something like it-- it sounds so cool! Not that it would do the homeschool students any good... I definately told my class members about the forums (it was one of my "news sources", after all! lol) and my teacher kept my print-out... so who knows! Maybe I've planted a seed in a metalhead's mind that will someday blossom... eh, or maybe not. ;D

That's really neat Chantelle! I don't think we have anything like this in the US. At least not that I'm aware of. I was discussing National Music Week and All Angels with the artistic director of my school and she loved the idea of National Music Week. We decided it's would be next to impossible because the US is so expansive! It would make more sense to have a clustering of states (even that's quite a bit of traveling for some), or maybe just one state have a Music Week. Maybe we'll see something one day.
