This may be (and most likely is) the fault of my silly computer and extremely slow internet connection... but I cannot by any means of pleading or coercion get either of the videos to load! Bummer...

Hi Chantelle, Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I have dial-up and the videos will not play for my either. I did manage a few seconds of audio from the promo video. Double Bummer... Joe

Hi Chantelle and Joe,
I have referred this to Simon and he says he will make smaller versions of the file which will enable those with dial-up to view them. Please give him a day or two and they should be available.
Roger

Hi Chantelle Joe and Roger, I've now made a smaller version of the Songbirds video (2.5 MB at 125 kbps) and I wonder if you can download this one? I did try it on dial-up late on tuesday afternoon but I could not keep the connection to AAI for long enough to fully play the video. But an hour ago (1:30 UK time) conditions were better and I managed to buffer and fully play the (smaller) video in about 16 minutes - on a dial-up connection. I hope we don't have to do it at less than 125 kbps as the quality will be very poor. Would you like to try it? It's currently in my personal webspace and if you can get it (at the right time of day!) Simon will add it to the video-vault at AAI for dial-uppers everywhere. Anyway, here it is for now: Songbird 125 kbps versionGood luck! Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks anyway for your smaller file. It downloaded in ten minutes. However I have issues... my Windows Media player version 7.01...
1. I can only get the audio; no video. 2. I must be online 3. Something called "codec" must be dowloaded. But when it is, I get "The codec downloaded for this media does not appear to be properly signed. Installation is not possible. "
This same thing occurs when I try to play any WMV file. It's most likely an outdated version of Windows Media player (v7.01) I've tried version 9; it doesn't run well in Windows ME.
I don't mean to be a pest... do you think you can try that file in realplayer format.
Cheers mate

The .wmv version worked wonderfully for me! Granted, I used Acid Screenblast instead of Windows Media Player... but it worked! Thank-you!

Cheers mate Joe, with the pc dinosaur Hello Joe Flintstone! :jester: I don't "do" real player stuff (I hate it, LOL) but I've done a "special" for you in .wmv version 7 which hopefully will be compatible with your DC Here it is!It sounds like what you need is Videolan's VLC player - it plays everything you can throw at it and more! www.videolan.org/ but if you ever upgrade your DC, you'll find the more recent versions of Media Player and its codecs do give better video. Good luck, Dave
