‘Classics in the Cathedral’
Classical singing star Laura Wright, of crossover group All Angels, is to sing with the Ipswich and Norwich Co-op Band on 1st November as part of ‘Classics in the Cathedral’
Held at Norwich Cathedral, the evening will showcase a mix of classical and contemporary music, including favourites such as Mozart’s Laudate Dominum, Gershwin’s Summertime and songs from West Side Story. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £12 (nave) and £8 (restricted view).
Classics in the Cathedral is supporting the charities Make a Wish and The Pimlott Foundation.

Laura Wright, at 18 years old, is the youngest member of All Angels, the four-girl classical crossover group who shot to fame in 2006/7 with their self-titled platinum selling album, becoming the fastest selling classical chart CD ever released. They were nominated in 2007 and 2008 for a Classical Brit award, the latter nomination for their second CD ‘Into Paradise’. All Angels have sung at The Festival of Remembrance, in the Houses of Parliament, to support the England Rugby Team at Twickenham and the national football side at Wembley. They have made appearances on Emmerdale and Eastenders.
Laura, who lives in Suffolk, started her singing career at the age of 15 when she won the coveted BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year award. As a result she made many appearances on radio, television and in cathedrals and churches across the country. Recently, Laura made her opera debut, performing in Dido and Aeneas and The Magic Flute.
The Ipswich & Norwich Co op Band is a traditional Brass Band based in Ipswich and is supported by the East of England Co operative Society. The band is currently celebrating 2008 as the most successful in its recent history. After performing a sell out memorial concert for the composer Malcolm Arnold in the town of Attleborough in October 2007, the band has gone from strength to strength. 2008 has seen the band achieve unprecedented contest results with 4th place out of a field of 25 in the First Section at the Butlins Open competition in January, a 2nd place in the London and Southern Counties National Qualifying Contest in March and, in May, first place in the East Anglian Brass Band competition, the first time in the band’s history that they have taken the title 'The Champion Band of East Anglia'. The band will be appearing at the National Finals in Harrogate at the end of September and will regain Championship status nationally from January 2009.
