I have just downloaded and listened several times to the new EP.
I have to say what a great job that the girls have done on this.
I mentioned on the thread, about what we would like them to record, that Adiemus would be one for me. I'm delighted that they have recorded it! ;D
'Goodnight My Angel' people would have seen or heard at the Concerts - L.Square or Yeovil. Great song, pitch perfect. I think this will end up being a forgotten great - like 'The Windmills of Your Mind'
New tracks to them True Colours and Starlight I thought were very very good.... although a feel an AAIF debate coming on...
Starlight is a great track, however i'm sure you all recall the debate with 'i'll fly away'. The reviews and if the gospel choir was needed or not/did it add or take away from the track.....
Well the song starts well for me, Charlotte's voice(?) is incredible!
When you get to 54 seconds Daisy(?) comes in and I thought that was a really nice touch. @ 1.05 The others start harmonising with her. At this point I would have expected her to stop... but she didn't, 1.13 Charlotte kicks back in singing the main track - Yet Daisy is still going... and going - and for me is drowning out Charlotte voice. It isn't until 1.42 the 'RRRRRRR' stops.
Clearly the Angels are experienced, especially Daisy and the harmonising, so am guessing that they thought this was best.
For me it will be a 'Marmite moment' - you will either love it or hate it.
For me it was very odd it went on that long and ended up taking away from the track.
Overall though I have to say the EP is such a strong recording it puts it alongside my all time fave album 'Into Paradise'.
Is this All Angels at their very very best - Oh yes.
