Hi Roger,

This is my sneaky way of using trains when I am making a return trip the same day by splitting the journey and buying separate tickets...

London Euston - Milton Keynes Central
Cheap Day Return - £13.50

Milton Keynes Central - Birmingham New Street
Cheap Day Return - £10.50

Birmingham New Street - Stoke-on-Trent
Cheap Day Return - £9.40

Stoke-on-Trent - Manchester Picadilly
Cheap Day Return - £8.00

Total - £41.40

Over £20 cheaper than if you just had a cheap day return from London to Manchester, but the good thing is that as the London - Manchester trains usually go through those stations anyway, you wouldn't even have to change train.

I don't know if that price will be any better for you but I hope that it helps.

Thanks very much for the advice about ticket prices but, on top of that, I would have to pay an additional £30 to get from here to London and back (including underground) which makes it fractionally dearer than I was quoted in the first place!

Thanks for the article. It is also interesting it being their first appearance in the North West, though I would also consider Huddersfield to be North West, it's border line.

But with this appearance in Manchester, as well as in Liverpool on tour, hopefully it will be the first of many as personally it is not far for me to travel at all. Next stop girls... Stoke-on-Trent

As my ticket had not arrived by this mornings post, I rang Secure Tickets to find out what is happening.

I have just received a 'phone call from them saying "This event has been cancelled by the promoters" The person I spoke too wasn't able to give a reason and explained that they had only just been told themselves.

Pity, I was looking forward to what I anticipated would be 'something different'
