Hello Belinda and everybody!
It was a great day yesterday. I met Grant inside HMV just before 11am, so we bagged a position at the front and to the left hand side of the stage. We guessed the front middle would be taken up by all the school children. Just before noon Peter joined us, closely followed by Roger and Stuart, who had managed to obtain a press pass. Perhaps being a head-teacher helped! ;D
Just after 12:30 a chap came on to make the introductions, and he looked nothing like Myleene Klass, who was advertised as hosting the event, although he actually apologised that he wasn't somebody else who I'd never heard of!
All Angels then took the stage, and gave a beautiful rendition of 'Songbird'. Being at the side, we had quite a good view of the girls, while the people in the middle probably couldn't see very much because of all the press photographers. Luckily Stuart was with them, and he managed to get some fabulous shots, as you've already seen. It was over all too soon, and Drew missed the girls' performance by about five minutes because his train was delayed.
I won't say anything about Matt Willis other than I won't be adding any of his music to my CD collection!
Roger has already described our meeting with the girls afterwards, and I also managed to obtain a copy of All Angels' promotional CD. It features 'Songbird' and the 'Flower Duet', and very nice it is too! Apparently the 'My Music tokens' were sent out to schools, and children can exchange their tokens for a free CD single of their choice by one of the ten artists taking part in the 'National Music Week' event.
Stuart and Drew then had to return to work, while I took Roger, Grant and Peter on a guided tour through Covent Garden and on to the Embankment, where we spent the rest of the afternoon in the delightful setting of the bar on board the paddle steamer 'Tattershall Castle', permanently moored near Charing Cross. On the way I pointed out some locations from Hayley's recent photo-shoot in Australian Women's Weekly. I'm hoping a photograph will appear on Hayley's forum soon, but please give me time to leave the country before she sees it!
It was a wonderful afternoon with great company! ;D
Best Wishes,
Richard
