I passed very quickly through Luton town centre this morning on the way back from a blood doning session.
HMV shows "Into Paradise" at #50
WHSmith shows "Into Paradise" at #19. Unfortunately the case on their shelf was of the 'non-existent' bonus album.
I asked them to change it.

Sadly, we may be disappointed, I was right to say lower than last year but I didn't expect this: Monday's sales place Into Paradise just outside the top 40. It looks like CDs with more of a "novelty" edge (or a 'hook', if you like them) are going to do much better than All Angels this Christmas. Royal Scots Dragoon Guards' new album is already top 20 and little Connie Talbot is top 30 I'm sure Into Paradise will climb as the week progresses but a second top 10 (or even top 20) album now looks out of the question and it may struggle to reach the top 30, let's all push! By the way, it's possible Royal Scots Dragoon Guards may qualify as classical due to the large number of "traditional" songs on it and if it does, it's bye-bye an All Angels number 1. However, I don't know if Scottish bagpipes count as a "classical" instrument - Irish bagpipes (Uilleann pipes) don't, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. If not, it could "save" All Angels. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the information, it seems that No.1 in the classical charts is still possible, so fingers crossed.
Though sales can't be helped at all by situations like the one Drew tells us about, having the wrong CD's out, how are they supposed to sell if even the shops can't get it right?

Hi Everybody/Dave?
I wonder where 'Into Paradise' finished up this week in the classical/overall chart?
I have been trying to search for information but can only find information about the overall chart? (which 'Into Paradise' doesn't seem to be in, or at least not in the top 40)

Into Paradise is no. 44 overall and no. 3 in the classical artist chart. Disappointing.
At most times of year, no. 44 would ensure a no. 1 in the classical charts but not in December.
1. Fron 2. Royal Scots Dragoon Guards 3. All Angels 4. Blake
I'd better get to bed now :jester: :snoring: :snoring: :snoring:

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for that. It is a shame that it didn't make No.1 in the classical chart.
But it could have been worse, and if you say that at any other time of the year apart from December it would have guaranteed No.1 then it is still pretty good, just unfortunate.
I still can't help feeling that sales can't have been helped by poor advertising (advert still saying out monday/shops displaying wrong CD).

Thanks for the news, Dave! I'm disappointed 'Into Paradise' didn't make the top 40 this week, but there could be two All Angels albums in the Classic FM chart next Saturday. Their first album is still at No.16 this week. ;D Latest chart: www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563&spid=10079Richard

Hello everyone, I now have some actual sales information and Into Paradise sold just over 16,000 copies last week (but only reached no. 44 in the chart). Three months ago, that would have made no. 7 in the pop album chart! So, not such a bad week after all... possibly just bad timing for the release - there is a lot more competition this year from increasing numbers of heavily promoted classical crossover artists. So well done All Angels, 16,000 fans out there in week 1 is not to be sneezed at! Cheers, Dave

Hello everybody! As I predicted, All Angels have two albums in the Classic FM chart this week. Their first album has slipped a place to No.17, while 'Into Paradise' is a new entry at No.4. Congratulations Charlotte, Daisy, Laura and Melanie! :applaud: :applaud: :applaud: :applaud: Latest chart: www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563&spid=10079 Richard
