Hello again folks! I didn't listen to the Classic FM Chart Show yesterday, but I've just looked at the latest chart via the link in my previous post, and I see All Angels' first album has gone up to No.15. ;D The other day I noticed a few copies of the CD were available in HMV for only £7, which could help to build up the market for their second album, due out next month. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Everyone, Here is the latest chart. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563&spid=10079Unfortunatly, All Angels dropped a place this week to No.16. Still going very strong though, would be very nice to see it remain in the top 20 when the new album is released and we can see them both there. (With 'Into Paradise' at No.1 of course! ;D) Well done girls! Dazza

Hello everyone, I couldn't resist checking the Amazon.uk rankings of Into Paradise over the last week or two and I've compared them with the first album just prior to release. All Angels had been as high as no. 26 by the Friday before release but I haven't yet seen Into Paradise in the top 50 there. It is currently no. 71. This makes me suspect that it won't enter the top 10 of the official chart in its first week ("All Angels" entered at no.9) but of course, Amazon is only a rough guide and things could still improve. On the other hand, it has a better chance of reaching no. 1 in the classical charts than last year if, as we think, Katherine Jenkins "Rejoice" doesn't count as a classical album - and if Into Paradise counts as classical (there are a lot of pop songs on there). The main threat to that should be from the follow-up album by The Fron Choir, we shall see. And even if it enters the album charts lower than All Angels, it could still sell more copies because it is released two weeks closer to Christmas and overall album sales will be a lot higher. It's the final sales total that is more important than absolute chart position and this is an interesting strategy by UCJ - aiming for a smaller share of a bigger pot. Let's hope it works! Dave.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your interesting post. Not sure that I understood it all but I got the gist of it.
Let's hope that 'Into Paradise' is counted as a classical album and is as high as possible, hopefully No.1
But as you say, it is the sales which are more important than actual chart position.

OK, I have Into Paradise now, I've just listened to it for the first time and of course, at last I have all the composer details. This album seems to need Band of Brothers to be counted as classical if it's going to qualify for the classical charts (it's that close!). It certainly sounds classical and readiing up on the composer, Michael Kamen, he does seem to have some classical in among his many pop collaborations, having composed scores for opera and ballet companies as well as film scores and TV themes like Band of Brothers. So it may count as classical - i assume steve Abbott and Ian Tilley will have checked this out before release as I am sure they will want it in the classical charts.
Why? Because Into Paradise has a good chance of getting All Angels their very first no. 1 classical album. Katherine's Rejoice doesn't count as classical, neither does Russell Watson's latest nor andrea Bocelli's new album. Blake are slipping down the charts now and the biggest surprise of all, the Fron Choir has been excluded from the new classical chart! I hope this isn't a mistake, we won't know for sure until Saturday when the Classic FM Chart is released. I don't think Teatro (also out this week) is classical either... and I can't see anything else stopping All Angels so... All Fingers crossed!
Meanwhile, in the Supermarkets, they all have Into Paradise but lower down in their charts than I'd hoped... mostly in the low teens or twenties. And my local ASDA didn't have many in stock (only 4!) so if it sells well, stock shortages could become a problem.
I am expecting a pop chart entry lower than last time (so outside the top 10) but at the moment it's guess work... I should get the Monday sales figures and midweek chart position on Tuesday afternoon.
Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the information. It is all very interesting.
It would be a fantastic achievement for All Angels to reach No.1 in the classical charts, even if it is partially down to some albums being excluded.
As you say, fingers crossed!
