The result has been confirmed on Classic FM's website.

All Angels Finalist Announced



All Angels, an all-female choral group with a sound that spans classical, choral, opera and pop, have announced the winner of the Search For An Angel competition.

The Finalists Were:

Alexandra Lawrie, Perranporth, Cornwall
Soraya Mafi, Swinton, Manchester
Carly Hopkinson, Mansfield, Nottingham
Elizabeth Phillips, Prestwich, Greater Manchester

And the winner is: Alexandra Lawrie from Perranporth, Cornwall

Originally, All Angels came together following a huge nationwide search of schools, choirs and music school. Melanie, Laura, Daisy and Charlotte were hoping to find an angelic girl (or boy!) with outstanding singing talent and a passion for music to join them.

They asked Classic FM to help them find a fifth 'Angel' to perform at a special All Angels concert to celebrate their latest album 'All Angels: Into Paradise'.

Angel Idol Chosen

Alexandra Lawrie, 26, has been chosen as the winner of the Angel Idol competition, which was carried out in conjunction with Classic FM. Alexandra, from Perranporth, Cornwall, is going to record a song, and perform at a prestigious concert on November 28th at St James' Church Piccadilly with the Angels. Five finalists were chosen from thousands of entries, and were auditioned by top record company executives and music manager Steve Abbott (judge on BBC 2's Classical Star) at the in-house studios at Universal Music.

Alexandra says 'It's a fantastic chance to be given the opportunity to sing with these girls. I was so nervous before the finals, and knew I was up against some stiff competition, so I was over the moon when I heard! I can't believe I'm going to be interviewed on Classic FM, and will be singing with the Angels very soon.'

Rehearsals for the November concert will start immediately, and will be fitted around All Angels' busy promotional schedule. The track that Alexandra will record with them will be the classic Pie Jesu, and tickets for the concert in November are on sale now.

I guess instead of Ave Verum Corpus, they are recording Pie Jesu. I look forward to hearing Alexandra's voice with All Angels.

Yes, they seemed to have changed the song that they are going to record from the one that they originally announced.

Just for the record, the reason why Natalie was taken out of the competition was confirmed by Bedlam Management tonight. It was merely because she was (slightly) below the minimum age.

Alexandra heard the competition being announced on Classic FM, but due to the postal strike knew she wouldn't get her demo in before the deadline. She had to drive all the way from her home in Cornwall to deliver it directly to Classic FM, and submitted it with just hours to spare.

Hi Northern Lights,

As 'Into Paradise' has already been recorded, and probably distributed by now too, I think that it is pretty safe to say that their recording is not on it.

It seems that it is just going to be a single, perhaps there will be a special digital edition of 'Into Paradise' like the first album, it could possibly be included on there.

I have had a look but I can't find Natalie's age anywhere.

Hello everybody!

There are now two videos of the final auditions on Classic FM's website:-

One shows short clips of all four finalists, and the other is a longer video of Alexandra Lawrie performing 'A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square'. The judges certainly had a difficult task.

There is also a link to a video of All Angels discussing the competition, but it doesn't seem to work.
