You are right, it was certainly a difficult choice for the judges.

Having now heard her sing I am looking forward to her performance with All Angels even more.

Have you waited? For me it takes about 5-10 seconds before the videos start playing, I'd imagine it would take longer on slower connections.

Alexandra to sing with All Angels

A FALMOUTH Primary School teacher is on her way to fulfilling her life long dream of stardom after winning a competition sing with the all-girl classical group, All Angels.

Alexandra Lawrie, 26, from Perranporth, beat thousands of other singers from across the UK to be chosen as the winner of the Angel Idol competition.

The contest offered the winner the chance to record a song and perform at a London concert with All Angels - a four piece girl group which was created by Steve Abbott.

Judges were so impressed by Alexandra's voice that she made the competition final and then triumphed with a live performance in front of top record company executives.

Alexandra, left for London yesterday (Nov 20) and will appear on national radio with the group before performing at St James Church in Piccadilly on November 28.

She hopes performing with established artists can help fulfil her lifetime dream of becoming a professional singer.

She said: "For as long as I can remember, I have always sung, either with my mum and sister or at school. Winning the competition is simply amazing and becoming a singer has always been my ultimate ambition. This will be a great opportunity to make a name for myself."

"All of my pupils and the rest of the staff here at the school are very excited for me and have been very supportive."

Alexandra, who teaches at Falmouth Primary School, was head chorister at her school in Kent and is trained in classical singing to Grade 8 - the highest level.

She won numerous competitions as a youngster including the BBC Radio 2 choir girl of the year when she was just 14.

Since then, she has concentrated on her career in teaching and singing folk-inspired popular acoustic songs with her mother Sue and sister Katharine.

The track Alexandra will record with them will be the classic Pie Jesu, and tickets for the concert in November are on sale now.
